AN Apology for forgoTTeN geNerATioN Government finally says sorry to Britain’s migrant children By Ian Charles THE British government has finally apologised for sending more than 130,000 children to former colonies where many suffered abuse. Prime Minister Gordon Brown expressed regret for the "misguided" Child Migrant Programme, telling the Commons he was "truly sorry". A £6m fund is being set up to reunite families torn apart by the scheme. Poor children were sent for a "better life" to countries like Canada and Australia from the 1920s to 1960s, but when they arrived many were abused and lied to. Mr Brown said on Wednesday: "To all those former child migrants and their families... we are truly sorry. They were let down.
